DOWNINGTOWN EDUCATIONAL ENRICHMENT PROGRAM (D.E.E.P.)

In order to challenge students academically, Advanced Placement (AP) and/or Honors classes are offered in grades 9, 10, 11, and 12l.  These courses are not restricted to identified gifted students; therefore, these courses are considered regular education course offerings

Currently D.E.E.P. students may elect to participate in a monitoring program which provides opportunities throughout the year for students to meet together as a group to discuss schedules, course selection, graduation projects, college preparation or other enrichment activities (contests, speakers, etc.)  In addition, students would be able to have conferences with the gifted coordinator on as “as needed” basis.

Some students may wish to pursue a topic of their own through independent study.  These students would receive a faculty mentor in the subject area of the particular study.  This independent study will be non-graded and non-credited.  The guidance office will develop all independent study guidelines including course credit decisions.  The goals would relate to course content, not credit issues.
