Instructions: How to get Working Papers

We now have two locations to obtain Working Papers.  Please call the office prior to your visit to make sure that the office is open.

Downingtown High School East

Judy Coldren – 610-363-6400

Downingtown High School West

Frani Hitzelberger – 610-269-4400

Once you have the promise of a job, follow these steps to receive working papers:

  1. Obtain an "Application for Employment Certificate" or "Transferable Work Permit" from the working papers clerk located at your high school in the main office.  You can also download the form below. You will need Adobe Acrobat to open the file.

  1. Have your prospective employer completely fill out Part "C".
  2. Have your physician fill out Part "D" verifying that you have had a physical that year.
  3. Bring the completed application to the working papers contact at your building, Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 2:30 pm, along with proof of age.
    • Acceptable documents include birth certificate, baptismal certificate, passport, driver's license, or school ID as long as the form of identification lists the date of birth.
  4. A parent or guardian must return the completed application so that it can be signed in the presence of the issuing officer.
    • If the parent or guardian is unable to come in to sign, they may instead sign the application in the presence of a notary public and have the application notarized.
  5. Bring the completed application and proof of age to the High School working papers contact during the hours of operation listed.
