When the weather turns
cold, you can count on our enthusiastic, talented student actors to warm your
heart and tickle your funny bone.
Beginning with Downingtown Middle School on February 5th
and continuing into March, Broadway theater at its finest takes the stage of
our four secondary schools.
From February 5, 2010 thru
February 7, 2010, DMS will present the musical “Once Upon a Mattress”. The show is a riotous version of the Princess
and the Pea fairy tale. Written
by Jay Thomas, Dean Fuller and Marshal Barer with music by Mary Rodgers and
Marshall Barer, “Once Upon a Mattress” first appeared on the Broadway stage
in 1959 with actress Carol Burnett in the title role. Sarah Jessica Parker starred in the 1997
revival.
This is a fun show for all
ages. Musical numbers include “The
Swamps of Home”, “A Girl Named Fred”, and the toe-tapping “Opening for a
Princess”.
